Good Tasting Green Smoothies

I’ve been wanting to give green smoothies a try for a while now but they look kinda of gross to me. They’re green…it just doesn’t look appealing to me. But, I decided to suck it up and try one. I found three recipes that I like a lot! They taste fruity but they have vegetables in them! I do not like vegetables at all so drinking a fruity smoothie while getting my daily does of vegetables in was awesome! Here are a few smoothies I found and loved!

Benefits of Omega 3 Fish Oil

Not everyone out there enjoys the taste of fish…but even those who do, still don’t eat enough to get the proven health benefits from consuming omega’s. Fish oil supplementation can obtain you some awesome health benefits while managing your weight & metabolizing foods better.

The reason why fish oils are good for you are the omegas EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) & DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) which are known to help reduce inflammation in the body along with many other health benefits such as;

1. Protect against osteoporosis

2. Protect against heart disease

3. Protect against breast cancer

4. Reduce PMS symptoms

5. Enhance beauty of skin and hair

6. Relieve depression

7. Weight control

8. Promotes healthy joints

9. Reduces inflammation

10. Reduces signs of aging

You see there are tons of excellent health benefits that come along with fish oils & I bet I’ve even missed a few. I’m all about fish oils for increasing energy, moods, of course for healthy skin, hair & nails…and who wouldn’t want to take fish oils to help prevent aging. Forget fighting wrinkles with cream, start from the inside in. Help your bod out a little by providing your body with high quality fish oils and I promise you will feel the difference.

No Sweets November

Instead of participating in No Shave November, this year I’m doing No Sweets November. I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and I’m hoping I can stick to this challenge. I might make a small exception on Thanksgiving and have some apple pie, but other then that, NO SWEETS!

I define sweets as:

  • Anything on the dessert stand in the dining centers
  • Sugar pop/energy drinks
  • Candy
  • Cake/Cupcakes/Pie
  • Usually anything in coffee, other than actual coffee
  • Ice Cream

Along with No Sweets November, I am going to try and do a 30 day squat challenge. I found this challenge on Pinterest and I am going to force myself to do it everyday.

If I am able to go all November without any sweets and complete this squat challenge, I will be very proud of myself! And maybe if I’m lucky my butt will look like the one in the picture above! (wishful thinking)

I encourage you all to try and participate in No Sweets November with me! Try and do it now before all those Christmas cookies start appearing!

DIY Body Wrap

So I found this do it yourself body wrap online. It’s cheap and effective. Body wraps are becoming increasingly popular in spas nowadays. Here is a recipe for an at home body wrap that can help you lose 1/2-1 inch in one night.

Here is what you’ll need:

Plastic Wrap

Lotion (it’s best if it contains something from the ocean: seaweed, kelp, mud. I couldn’t find any, so I just used what I had on-hand.)

Step 1 – Apply a thick layer of lotion to the area you want to target. {Don’t rub it in completely!} You can do it on your stomach, your thighs, your upper arms, wherever your “trouble spots” are.

Step 2 – Wrap the ENTIRE area with your plastic wrap. I went all the way around my mid-section several times. Make it snug but not tight; you do have to wear it ALL night long.

Step 3 – Now wrap the area with a long bandage of some kind, anything that will keep your wrap in place. Be sure to cover the plastic completely.

Secure it well and you’re ready to hit the sack!

The idea behind this is to help your body release water that’s retained due to weather, food consumption; even Mother Nature’s visits. The combination of lotion and plastic helps sweat it out of you.

Lemon Water

Did you know that drinking lemon water has many health benefits? I didn’t know this until recently. Nowadays I don’t drink my water unless there is lemon in it!

Lemons are jammed packed with nutrients such as calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber.

Benefits of lemon water:

Aids digestions

GIves your immune system a boost

Cleanses your system

Keeps skin blemish free

Helps lose weight

Reduces inflammation

Gives you an energy boost

Helps fight viral infections

For the best results, drink a cup of warm water with lemon in it 30 minutes before you have breakfast. Drinking this before you eat gives your body time to digest and process the nutrients.

You can gain all of these benefits by just adding lemon to your water! Who would have thought!

Lemon Water Benefits

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil.

This stuff is my absolute favorite beauty and health tool. I use it daily, weather in my food or on my hair. This stuff does wonders.

If taken internally, coconut oil can help cure many ailments and aid with weight loss. Everyday I try to eat at least one teaspoon of coconut oil. You can just eat it plain, but I would highly advise not too! It tastes gross by itself and I usually gag. Try putting some in coffee or tea. you can also use it as a substitute for canola or vegetable oil. You can also use it to replace Crisco. I personally don’t like the taste of coconut, but when I mix it with food I can barely taste it.

Benefits of eating coconut oil:

Reduce cholesterol

Daily energy source

Relieve constipation

Help speed weight loss

Improve digestion

…and so much more!

Externally, coconut oil can do some pretty amazing things also. I use it in my hair and as a lotion in the winter time. I have even used it on my dog! The slight coconut smell isn’t a bad benefit either.

Coconut oil beauty benefits:

Natural deodorant

Sooth dry, itchy skin

Prevent stretch marks during pregnancy

Give hair a glossy look

Heal acne scars

…and so much more!
